Bonnefanten
Choose this for a substantial art visit on the east bank. The museum combines collections and temporary exhibitions; check what is open on your date rather than choosing purely from a photograph of the building.
Give it a dedicated part of the day. Follow the visit with a walk through Céramique or along the river towards Wyck. If you only have a few hours in Maastricht, decide whether the museum or the central walk matters more to you.
The museum has announced gallery installation closures in late October and early November 2026. Read its current notice before planning around a particular exhibition.
Choose an exhibition, then the day
Read the current programme before buying tickets. The collections and temporary exhibitions can require quite different amounts of time. Allow a dedicated part of the day rather than treating the museum as a quick photograph of its tower.
After the museum
Stay on the east bank. Walk along the Maas towards Wyck, stop for food, then continue to Maastricht station if you are leaving that day. If you are staying in the centre, cross back using the bridge that best fits your route.
Céramique and the waterfront are the natural additions to this visit. A trip to the caves on the same afternoon is a separate excursion, not a neighbouring stop.
